Focusing on the wonders of the Arouca Geopark and the origin of the ‘Pedras Parideiras’, this children’s story by Ana Paula Azevedo, illustrated by Marcos Oliveira, aims to spark an interest in nature, whilst encouraging respect for and the preservation of the natural world, as it is everyone’s heritage. It is also an excellent way to foster a love of reading.
This story introduces us to Luís, a young man passionate about the land that saw him grow up and which, when he was 12, saw him set off for France in search of a better life. Now, 16 years later, back in Albergaria da Serra, Luís seeks to understand everything his father had told him as a child about the land and the existence of a Book of Nature. In this short story, we follow the adventures of a young man who seeks the essence of the Arouca Geopark and finds it deep within the Serra da Freita.
